In the bag:

Until recently make-up was something I'd never taken seriously, it was usually black eyeliner and a swipe of mascara, but as I get older I have come to appreciate how a well executed face of make-up can  make you feel. It's not about doing it for others, making you look 'better', or more 'beautiful', but about how you feel about yourself, the confidence it can instill, and the pleasure of doing it.

These are the products I used to create a peachy palette for a dinner out with new friends. The three most recommended on this list are:

  •  Benefit stay don't stray, which claims to be an eyeshadow base, but is actually the best concealer I have ever used, its creamy but not dry, a nice neutral colour and it stays on all day. I use it under the eyes and on blemishes.
  • Topshop cream blush 'head over heels', every other blush I have ever bought pales in comparison. Topshop's cream blushers are smooth, but with a powdery finish, subtle but full of colour, and also double up as a lip tint.
  • Soap and Glory 'supercat' eyeliner, I've been wearing black eyeliner for as long as I can remember and have tried the cheapest, and most expensive but nothing beats this one. It is ultra black, long wearing, non cracking, and the tip doesn't dry out like countless others I have tried.
I must also mention Paul and Joe moisturising foundation primer, which is just beautiful, illuminating, hydrating, and has a wonderful smell. Completely worth the £22 price tag.

Welcome to Of Paper and Sticks, a blog dedicated to capturing the moments in life worth holding on to.
Here you will find words and photography centred around vintage style, contemporary fashion, beauty, film and literature.
Life is a narrative, and just like any good film or book there are some scenes that you want to view again and again, these are the ones that make life worth living, and these are the ones I hope to show here.
